1979 erhielt ich von den N a t io n al e n Fors c hu n gs - und. G e d e n k s t ä t t e n der k l a s s i s c h e n d e uts c h e n L i t e r a t u r in Weim a r die M ö g l ic hke it, für längere' Zeit in der Z e n t r a l b i b l i o t h e k der d e u t sch en Kl a s s i k in W e i m a r zu arbeiten. M e in e F o r s c h u n g e n galt e n d a mals in erster L i n i e der typo l o g is c he n U n t e r h a l t u n g der d e ut schen U n t e r h a l t u n g s l y r i k , mit dem Ziel, sie a l s “lite- rarische Consumware' von den Pro d u k t e n der z ei t g e n ö s s i s c h e n l i t e r a t u r h i s t o r i s c h repr ä s e n t a t i v e n D i c h tu n g a b zu g r e n z e n und ihren S t e llenwer t in der d e utsch en K u l t u r g e s c h i c h t 3 zu u m reißen. Die ersten R e s u l t a t e meiner W e i m a r e r Forschu n g s z e i t habe ich bereits beim A u f b a u - V e r l a g v e r ö f f e n ; 1 i c h t . G l e i c h z e i t i g stel l te ich vor a llem auf G rund der W e i m a r e r B e s t ä n d e einen Q u e r s c h n i t t durch den G e s a m t k o m p l e x der ty p i s c h e n U n t e r h a l t u n g s - lieder für den E u l e n s p i e g e l - V e r l a g zusammen, der noch in dies e m Jahr u. d. T. "Sieben und siebzi g sehr a n m u t h i g e N e u e A r i e n und Lieder" e r s c h e i n e n soll, von dem aber b e r e i t s so m a n c h e
P r o be in oer A u s w a h l und mit dem K o m m e n t a r v o n H errn

Ich r.atte s c h l i e ß l i c h im D e z e m b e r v e r g a n g e n e n Jahre s aucn aie M ö g l i c h k e i t , v o n den Jü n g s t e n A r b e i t e n am v o r l i e g e n d e n Band sowie über die d a r au s folg e n d e n s p e z i f i s c hen F o r s c h u n g s p r o b l e m e im G e r m a n i s t e n k r e i s der B e r l i n e r H u m b o l d t - U n i v e r s i t ä t zu berichten.
B e r e - t s in W e i m a r konnte ich ' -cht nur die für die freie V e r b r e i t u n g der F l u g b l3rtlieder b es o n d e r s f o l g e n s c h w e r e n Z e n s u r m a ß n a h m e n im K u r f ü r s t e n t u m S a c h s e n und die L i s t e der 1802 k o n f i s z i e r t e n und 1803 v e r b o t e n e n Lied e r, s o n d e r n auch das Echo im W e i m a r e r Oo u r n a l des L u x us und der M o d e n und - zu m e iner g r ö ß t e n Ü b e r r a s c h u n g — sogar m a nche d i eser in der v e r b o t enen F o r m s e i t h e r g r ö ß t e n t e i l s für v e r l o r e n g e l t e n d e n L i e d e r w i e d e r a u ffind en. W ä h r e n d der D u r c h s i c h t der b e s o n d e r s u m f a n g r e i c h e n M e u 9 e b a c h - S a m m l u n g in der D e u t s c h e n S t a a t s b i b l i o t h e k in B e r l i n / D D R k onn te ich die W e i m a r e r B e f u n d e auf das V i e l fache e r g ä n z e n sowie e ine w e s e n t l i c h g en a u e r e I d e n t i f i z i e r u n g der u r s p r ü n g l i c h v e r b o t e n e n L i e d e r und ihre Tr e n n u n g v o n den fr üher o der s pä ter e n t s t e h e n d e n V a r i a n t e n v o r n e h m e n . D a s vei—
b o ten e M a t e r i a l in W e i m a r li e f e r t e also den A n l a ß zu s e i n e r E r f o r s c h u n g , doch erst das S i c h t e n der S a m m l u n g in B e r l i n führte zu E r g e b n i s s e n , w e l c h e die H e r a u s g a b e d i eses B a ndes m ö g l i c h und sin n v o l l machten.
Das Su ch g li edert sich in f o l g en d e Teile: Dem V o r w o r t folgt ein V e r z e i c h n i s der Sigel und A b k ü r z u n g e n , in dem n eben den A b k ü r z u n g e n der b e n u t z t e n L i t e r a t u r die Sigel für den j e w e i l i g e n Sta n d o r t d er f l i e g e n d e n B l ä t t e r in den B i b l i o t h e ken a n g e g e b e n sind. U n t e r d i e s e m T i te l e r k l är e ich auch die Z e i c h e n s e t z u n g für die U n t e r s c h e i d u n g der v e r b o t e n e n L i e d e r und ihrer V a r i a n t e n .
Es ist a u ß e r d e m u n u m g ä n g l i c h , e i n ig e T h e s e n m e i n e r b i s h e r i g e n F o r s c h u n g s a r b e i t auch h i e r ü b e r die F l u g b l a t t l i e d e r im a l l g e m e i n e n unter d em T ite l D i e s p e z i f i s c h e G a t t u n g der u n t e r h a l t e n d e n L i e d e r auf f l i e g e n d e n B l ä t t e r n z u s a m m e n z u f a s s e n . Z u m b e s s e r e n V e r s t ä n d n i s der e i g e n a r t i g e n F o r s c h u n g s p r o b l e m a t i k
der v e r b o t e n e n Lieder und ihrer in mancher Hins i c ht vom
G e s a m t b e r e i c h a b w e i c h e n d e n T y pologi e ist es a u ß e rd e m notwendig, einen F ors c h u n g s b e r i c h t über Die ve r b o t e n e n Fl u q b l a t t l i e d e r zu entwerfen. Dem schl ieß t sich die L iste der v e rb o te n e n L ie d e r an sowie die B e s c h r e i b u n g der sp r e z i f i s c h e n M ethoden, mit d enen Die I d e n t i f i z i e r u n g der v e r bo t e n e n L i e d e r möglich w u r d e .
U n t e r k u l t u r h i s t o r i s c h e n A s p e k t e n sind z ei t g e n ö s s i s c h e A r t i k e l in den Peri o d i k a b e sonders interessant, die sich mit der V e r b r e i t u n g von F l u g b l a t tlieder n , Kalendern, "schlechten B ü ch e r n " und mit ihren V erkä u f e r n , den H a u s i e r e r n und B ü c h e r tröd le r n beschäftig en. Da solche S t e l l u n g n a h m e n nach 1800 die h is t o r i s c h bed i n g t e n U m s t ä n d e des V e r b o t e s n ah e b ringen, w e rden e inige von Ihnen u.d.T. D o k u m e n t e über S t e l l u n g n a h m e n gegen die V e r b r e i t u n g von u n e r w ü n s c h t e r L it e r a t u r gekürzt, manche a uc h im v o l l e n U m f a n g veröffen t l i c h t .
D e n l e tzten Teil b i lden s c h lie ß li c h die V e r b o t e n e n L i eder und ihre V a r i a n t e n . O r t h o g r a p h i s c h e I n k o n s e q u e n z e n und D r u c k fehler der L i e d e r ließ ich - auch w e n n daru nt e r V e r s t ä n d l i c h keit oder Rh y t h m u s und R eime l eiden m u ßt e n - u n k o r r i g i e r t . O e r b e sc h r ä n k t e U m f a n g d ieser A u s g a b e hat d abei w e d e r die.
n a c h t r ä g l i c h e K o r r e k t u r v o n D r u c k f e h l e r n noch die E r k l ä r u n g e n der h eute nicht mehr g e l ä u f i g e n W ö r t e r und W e n d u n g e n e r m ö g licht. D a s L e sen zu erl eic h t e r n , e r l au b t e ich mir l e diglich, die s t ro p h i s c h a m o r p h e n F l u g b l a t t l i e d d r u c k e in V e r s e und S t r o p h e n zu zerlegen . D i ese V e r ä n d e r u n g des u r s p rü n g l i c h e n D r u c k b i l d e s w i r d d a d u r c h legiti m i e r t , daß man in den F l u g b l a t t h e f t c h e n auf die Ein h a l t u n g v on V e r s e n d e n le d i g l i c h v e r z i c h t e t e , weil man d a d u r c h m eh r P l a t z für den D r u c k und d e m z u f o l g e n i e d rigere H e r s t e l l u n g s k o s t e n und h ö here E i n n a h m e n ge w i n n e n konnte.
D i e s e D r u c k w e i s e mochte z war dem dam a l i g e n L e s e r v o n F l u g b l a t t l i e d e r n o de r s o n s t i g e r b i l l i g e r G e d i c h t a u s g a b e n g e l ä u f i g g e w e s e n sein, doch g l a u b t e ich, sie v e r ä n d e r n zu dürfen, weil der h e u t i g e L e s e r v o n G e d i c h t e n nicht mehr g e w o h nt ist, zu L ie de r n , die wie P r o s a t e x t e g edruckt sind, den e n t s p r e c h e n d e n Z u g a n g zu finden.
Zur g enau en O r i e n t i e r u n g und zur E r l e i c h t e r u n g w e i t e r e r F o r s c h u n g e n w ir d nach j edem hier v e r ö f f e n t l i c h t e n L i e d a u ßer dem S t andort in der e n t s p r e c h e n d e n B i b l i o t h e k auch der v olle W o r t l a u t seines T i t e l b l a t t s a b g e dr u c k t. Somit w i r d E i n b l i c k in den Um k r e i s des j e w e i l i g e n L i e d e s gewä h r t , da die F lug- b l a t t h e f t c h e n trotz m a n g e l h a f t e r b i b l i o g r a p h i s c h e r A n g a b e n fast immer s ä m t l i c h e L i e d a n f ä n g e der j e w e i l i g e n A u s g a b e auf dem T i t e l b l a t t angeben. V o n den V a r i a n t e n kann n a t ü r l i c h nur eine A u s w a h l n a c h g e d r u c k t werd e n. D o c h gebe ich - zwar ohne T i t e l b l a t t a n g a b e - auch von den h ie r nicht v e r ö f f e n t l i c h t e n ,
mir j e doch b e k a n n t e n V a r i a n t e n den B i b l i o t h e k s t a n d o r t an.
S c h l i e ß l i c h w e r d e n - falls mir b ek annt - die Q u e l l e und die in m a n c h e n z e i t g e n ö s s i s c h e n und s p ä t e r e n r e p r ä s e n t a t i v e n L i e d e r a u s g a b e n und in s o n s t i g e n w i s s e n s c h a f t l i c h e n V e r ö f f e n t l i c h u n g e n g e d r u c k t e n V a r i a n t e n v e r z e i c h n e t ;
A l s s e l b s t ä n d i g e s L i e d g e n r e v e r f ü g t die F l u g b l a t t l y r i k s owo hl über k u l t u r h i s t o r i s c h e als a uc h - trotz des u n t e r s c h i e d l i c h e n N i veaus der e i n z e l n e n L i e d e r - über e i n i g e b e s o n d e r e ä s t h e t i s c h e - p o e t i s c h e Q u a l i t ä t e n . In der Ü b e r z e u g u n g , daß die B e s c h ä f t i g u n g damit nicht nur a b s t r a k t e n F o r s c h u n g s z i e l e n dient, s o n d e r n auch einige b i s h e r u n b e k a n n t e S c h ä t z e für die G e g e n w a r t zu e r s c h l i e ß e n v e r m a g , v e r ö f f e n t l i c h e ich d i e s e s Buch mit den einst v e r b o t e n e n F l u g b l a t t l i e d e r n und i h r e n V a r i a n t e n .

Es ist s o z u s a ge n typisch, daß in e inem mit let z t e r e m H i n w e i s e h e r a u s g e g e b e n e n F l u g b l a t t h e f t chen unter nur "Sechs n euen w e l t l i c h e n A r ie n " glei ch u n sere ersten vier (!) v e r b o t e n e n L i e d e r zu l esen sind.
A u ß e r d e m sehe ich auch die L i e d e r in b i l l i ge n S a m m e l a u s g ab e n und A n t h o l o g i e n der F l u g b l a t t b e s t e l l e r , den s o g e n a n n t e n
"Lust- und L i e b e s r o s e n " , als F l u g b l a t t l i e d e r an, da sie nicht nur i n haltlich, durch den n ahezu u n v e r ä n d e r t e n Nach dr u c k , sond e rn auch den formal en Ä u ß e r l i c h k e i t e n nach ( Ge s taltung des T i tel bl a t t e s , s c h l e c h t e s Papier, aus S p r a s a m k e i t s g r ü n d e n nicht b e r ü c k s i c h t i g t e V e r s - m a nch ma l auch S t r o p h e n e n d e n , z ahl-

Bei der B e s c h ä f t i g u n g mit d i e s e n L i e d e r n stößt man auf einige g a t t u n g s s p e z i f i s c h e P r o b l e m e , die der F o r s c h u n g m a n c h e kaum zu b e w ä l t i g e n d e S c h w i e r i g k e i t e n bereiten. So e n t s t e h e n z.B. selbst d u rch das Q u a n t u m P r o b l e m e , durch die - w i e es im W e i m a r e r O o u r n a l heißt - "fast u n b e g r e i f l i c h e M e n g e " (Bert S. 426.) der F l u g b l a r t l i o u e r . M i t ihrer e n or m en Zahl k ö n n e n sich w e d e r die P r o d u k t e der A l m a n a c h d i c h t u n g noch d i e s o n s tig en G e d i c h t v e r ö f f e n t l i c h u n g e n jener Zeit messen. Z u d e m i s t d v o l l s t ä n d i g e S i c h t e n der F l u g b l a t t l i e d e r s c h o n d e s w e g e n unmög lieh, weil die h e u t e noch v o r h a n d e n e n nur e i n e n B r u c h t e i l der einst h e r a u s g e g e b e n e n darst e l l e n : Die F l u g b l a t t l i e d e r w a r e n j schon immer zu k u r z f r i s t i g e m K o n s u m b e st i m m t, nur g a n z w e n i g e S a m m l e r h ab en sie in i hren B i b l i o t h e k e n g e du l de t und a u f b e w ahrt (Schenda S. 2 75.). So g i n g im L a u f e der Zeit v i e l e s ver|
loren, w ob ei a u ch w i e d e r h o l t e Z e n s u r m a ß n a h m e n und s t r e n g e j K o n f i s k a t i o n e n z w i s c h e n d u r c h eine w i c h t i g e R o l l e spie l t e n . H i n z u k o m m e n die meist f e h l e n d e n Z e i t - V e r l a g s - und O r t s a n g a b e j der L i e d e r h e f t c h e n , wo d u r c h d i e g e n a u e w i s s e n s c h a f t l i c h e Be- I S c h r e i b u n g des e i g e n t l i c h e n F o r s c h u n g s o b j e k t s e b e n f a l l s in
hohem M a ß e e i n g e s c h r ä n k t wird.
D i e g a t t u n g s s p e z i f i s c h e n und t y p o l o g i s c h e n E i g e n h e i t e n der F l u g b l a t t l i e d e r sind v o r a l l e m d a v o n best i m m t , daß man be i hre r V e r ö f f e n t l i c h u n g viel mehr als in der s o n s t i g e n D i c h t u n der Zeit den t a t s ä c h l i c h e n L e s e r i n t e r e s s e n ent g e g e n k a m . Das A n g e b o t an u n t e r h a l t e n d e n L i e d e r n auf f l ie g en d e n B l ä t t e r n war s o z u s a g e n a u s s c h l i e ß l i c h v o n der N a c h f r a g e b e s t i m m t . W e l t a n s c h a u l i c h e B e d e n k e n und k u l t u r p o l i t i s c h e Ü b e r z e u g u n g e n des V e r l e g e r s s p i e l t e n d a h e r eine w e s e n t l i c h g e r i n g e r e R o l l e als
in der e b e n f a l l s u n t e r h a l t e n d e n M o d e l y r i k der Z e i t s c h r i f t e n und A l m a n a c h e . D a b e i w u r d e mit d en L i e d e r n auf f l i e g e n d e n B l ä t t e r n nicht nur ein enger, m e h r o de r w e n i g e r b e o r e n z t e r K r e i s a n g e s p r o c h e n . In i hne n r e p r ä s e n t i e r t s i c h d e r t a t s ä c h l i G e s c h m a c k de s v i e l s c h i c h t i g e n L e s e p u b l i k u m s und s i c h e r l i c h au
der damals weit zahlreicheren M i c h t l e s e r . Das recht mann i g f a l t i g e L i e d m a t e r i a l der flie gende n B lätter war nämlich a u s s c hl i e ß l i c h auf das Interesse an einem raschen A b s a t z und im Z us a mm e n h a n g damit an einem möglic hst hohen Rein g e w i n n zugeschn i t t en .
Die Auswa hl der je we i l i g e n L iede r für die fliegenden B l ät t er wurde - unter dem A s p e k t des e r wü n s c ht e n Erfo lg e s g e sehen - nie verfehlt, w e nn sie den th e m atischen und poet i s c h - - s t i l i s t i s c h e n B e h a r r u n g s t e n d e n z e n der L e s er von U n t e r h a l t u n g s l i t e r a t u r Rechnung trug. Wer sich beim L e se n unterhalten, vei—
g n ü g e n , a m ü s i e r e n wollte, konnte sich kaum mit der a n s t r e n g e n den E n t s c h l ü s s e l u n g der h ohen gehalt l i c h e n A b s t r a k t i o n in k l as si s c hen Ged i c h t e n be f a s s e n und hätte sich auch nicht gern von m o d e rn en E n t f r e m d u n g s e f f e k t e n m a nc h e r f rü h ro m a n t i s c h e r G e d i chte i r rit ieren l a s s e n wollen. Gewiß v e r l a n g t e auch A c h i m von A r n i m von seinen Z e i t g e n o s s e n ü ber die p o e t i s c h e W i r k s a m k e i t R e c h e n s c h aft, indem er die F r a g e n stellte: "Wenn nun so e i n fache leichte Kunst viel wirkt, wie kommt es, daß oft die schwere, gehäuf te s o g e n a n n t e Kunst nichts l e i s te t ? W e r nur für sich schafft in st o l z e r Gleichgültigka-it, ob es einer fasse und trage, wie soll er a ndre erf a s s e n und ergreifen?'' (Arnim, S. 87.)
Das p oe t i s c h e Erl e b n i s w urde daher im K re i se des u n t e r h a l t u n g s b e d ü r f t i g e n P u b l i k u m s nicht von dem komp l iz i er t D i f f e r e n z i e r t e n und A b s t r a k t e n , noch we n i g e r von dem er s c h ü t t e r n d e n Neuen, s o n d e r n von d em seit jeher bekannten, bereits e r p r o b ten und so von v o r n h e r e i n m ü helos z u g ä n g l i c h e n A l t e n erwartet.
Um die k a t h a r t i s c h - ä s t h e t i s c h e W i r k u n g der um 1800 moder n e n L i t e r a t u r m i t e r l e b e n zu k önnen h ätte n sich br e i t e s t e S c h i c h t e n der d e u t s c h e n L eser und N i c h t l e s e r e iner "ä s t h e t i s c h e n E r z i e h u n g “ u n t er z i e h e n müssen, für die bei a ll e r v i e l v e r s p r e c h e n d e n P r o p a g a n d a des g anze n a u f g e k l ä r t e n O a h r h u n d e r t s - S c h i l l e r s h o c h k l a s s i s c h e A n s c h a u u n g e n e i n g e s c h l o s s e n - ü b er h a u pt keine s o z ia l - und k u l t u r h i s t o r i s c h e m G r u n d l a g e n v o r h a n d e n w a r e n (Vgl.
d a zu Schenda, S. 45-90. und K i e s e l - M ü n c h , S. 67-76. u. S.
154 -179.). A u ß e r d e m w are n im p o l i t i s c h e n und w e l t a n s c h a u l i chen V a k u u m des "gr oßen J a h r z e h n t s " nach der F r a n z ö s i s c h e n
R e v o l u t i o n die d e u t s c h e n B ü r g e r und I n t e l l e k t u e l l e n noch w e n i ger d enn je bereit, sich für das V e r s t ä n d n i s ihrer m o d e r n s t e n K ü n s t l e r und I d e o l o g e n a n z u s t r e n g e n . O f f e n w a r man d a h e r nur
für die h i s t o r i s c h b e w ä h r t e n und t r a d i e r t e n S t r u k t u r e n , w e l c h e u.a. die b e g e h r t e n E m p f i n d u n g e n und V o r s t e l l u n g e n von p e r s ö n l i c her Siche r h e i t , B e s t ä n d i g k e i t und U n v e r ä n d e r l i c h k e i t v e r mi t t e l t e n und so auch den i l l u s o r i s c h e n H a r m o n i e b e d ü r f n i s s e n nach einer t a t s ä c h l i c h e f f e k t i v e n und u n g e s t ö r t e n U n t e r h a l t u n g a n g e m e s s e n waren.
Die H e r a u s g e b e r der F l u g b l a t t l i e d e r b e d i e n t e n sich d a h e r der auf dem L i e d e r m a r k t b e reit s gut b e w ä h r t e n K u n s t l i e d p r o d u k t i o n - "gängige" L i e d e r der l i t e r a t u r h i s t o r i s c h r e p r ä s e n t a tiv en D i c h t e r v o m d e u t s c h e n B a r o c k bis zum S t u r m und D r a n g s o wie O p e r n - und S i n g s p i e l a r i e n und S t u d e n t e n d i c h t u n g m i t e i n b e g r i f f e n - und s c h ö p f t e n auch g e r n aus d e m R e i c h t u m d e r V o l k s lieder.
V o n den d e u t s c h e D i c h t e r n w a r e n um 1 8 0 0 auf f l i e g e n d e n B l ä t t e r n C h r i s t i a n F e l i x W e i ß e und G o t t f r i e d A u g u s t B ü r g e r g e wiß am s t ä r k s t e n v e r t r e t e n . M an v a r i i e r t e aus W e i ß e s S i n g s p i e l e n und G e d i c h t b ä n d e n u.a. recht gern die L i e d e r "Ein M ä d c h e n , das auf Ehre h i elt", "Als ich auf m e i n e r B l e i c h e " ,
"Wenn mich nur m ein R ö s g e n lieb t ", "Ein a r ti g B a u e r m ä d c h e n kam", "Ohne L i e b und o h n e W ei n" , "Wenn m a n mir ein M ä d c h e n n e n n t “ usw. In der Abs i c h t , die s p r a c h l i c h e und p o e t i s c h e Z u g ä n g i g k e i t zu erhöhen, w u r d e n die K u n s t l i e d e r recht h ä uf i g v o l k s t ü m l i c h e r s t r u k t u r i e r t . V o l k s l i e d e r und v o l k s t ü m l i c h e L i e d e r e r h i e l t e n da g e g e n m eisten s s p r a c h l i c h e und k o m p o s i t o r i s c h e M o d e r n i s m e n bzw. W e n d u n g e n des B ä n k e l s a n g e s und des s pä t en R o k o k o g e d i c h t e s , der S t u d e n t e n - und V a g a n t e n l i e d e r sowie der z e i t g e n ö s s i s c h e n S i n g s p i e l a r i e n und der d amals von der b r e i te n Ö ff e nt l i c h k e i t d e r L eser für be s o n d e r s m o d e r n g e h a l t e n e n e m p f i n d s a m e n Dich t u n g , So gibt es auf f l iegen den B l ä t t e r n kaum s o g . ; “reine F ä l l e “ der V o l k s - und K u n s t d i c h t u n g . A u f den F l u g b l ä t t e r n e n ts t a n d d a h e r ein s e l b s t ä n d i g e s G en re des L iedes , l e b e n s b e j a h e n d , o p t i m i s t i s c h und i mmer o f f e n für Scherz, Spaß und alle A r t e n des Humors, In d i e s e r s p e z i f i s c h e n G a t t u n g d e u t s c h s p r a c h i g e r D i c h t u n g v e r floc h t en sich eige n t l i c h die v e r s c h i e d e n s t e n T e n d e n z e n der g e s c hr i e b e n e n und der mü n d l i c h ü b e r l i e f e r t e n Lyri k . gelang ten. A b e r a uch r e p r ä s e n t a t i v e D i c h t e r d e r g l e i c h e n Zeit e r h i e l t e n vom F lug b l a t t immer w i e d e r w i c h t i g e I m p u l s e für die V o l k s t ü m l i c h k e i t ihrer Lyrik. A u c h A c h i m v o n A r n i m und C l e m e n s
B r e n t a n o schö p f t e n eine i m p o s a n t e M e n g e für ihre W u n d e r h o r n b ände aus der um 1800 n a h e z u u n v e r s i e g b a r e n Q u e l l e der F l u g b l a t tlyrik. IV. D I E V E R B O T E N E N F L U G B L A T T L I E D E R
Noch in der Z e n t r a l b i b l i o t h e k der N F G ln W e i m a r fand ich die k u r s ä c h s i s c h e n Konfiskation*;- und Z e n s u r m a ß n a h m e n von 1802 und 1803, v e r ö f f e n t l i c h t von A. T i l le und G. W i t k o w s k i . D a n a c h w u r d e n e inige "unsittliche" i.ieder aus d e r Dr u c k e r e i d e r W i t w e So l b r i g in L e i p z i g a n ge z t i gt und d en U n t e r s u c h u n g e n zu f o l g e z w e i u n d a c h t z i g von ihnen i. J ahre 1802 k o n f i sziert, s c h l i e ß l i c h laut k u r f ü r s t l i c h e r Z e n s u r v e r o r d n u n g vom 17. Mai 1803 ihre W i e d e r v e r ö f f e n t l i c h u n g s owie "die V e r b r e i t u n g so l c h e r a n s t ö s s i g e n V o l k s s c h r i f t e n d ur c h s o g e na n nt e L i e d e r h änd l er, B ü c h e r t r ö d l e r und B u c h b i n d e r auf den S t ad t - und D o r f - J a h r m ä r k t e n " strengstens v e rboten. (Tille, S. 133.) In d i eser V e r f ü g u n g d es K u r f ü r s t e n H e i n r i c h F e r d i n a n d v o n Z e d w i t z w u r d e n auch v e r s c h i e d e n e P r ä v e n t i v m a ß n a h m e n getro f f e n, um zu v e r m e i den, daß ä h n l i c h e " ärge r l i c h e und den g ut e n S i t t e n z u w i d e r l a u f e n d e . . . L i e d e r ” in Zu k u n f t e rs c heinen. D ie v e r l a n g t e "ge
h ö r i ge C eneur" und die r e g e l m ä ß i g e n K o n t r o l l e n "bey den von Zeit zu Zeit auf den Mä r k t e n , bey d en L i e d e r h ä n d l e r n , B ü c h e r trödl ern und B u c h b i n d e r n a n z u s t e l l e n d e n V i s i t a t i o n e n ’ v e r s p r a ch en Erfolg.
A b e r a uch jene F o r d e r u n g des k u r f ü r s t l i c h e n E rl a s s e s konnte b e s o n d e r s w i r k s a m sein, nach der " d er g l e i c h e n L i e d e r ... auf ö f f e n t l i c h e m M a r k t e zu führen und zu v e rk a u f en , nur alsdann, wenn sie ... mit de n N a m e n des D r u c k e r s und D r u c k o r t s v e r s e hen sind, g e st att et ... w e rde." S omit war es nahe z u a u s g e schl o sse n, be r e i t s v e r b o t e n e o de r v o n d e n Z e n s u r b e h ö r d e n für
" s c h ädlich" g e h a l t e n e L i e d e r zu d r u c k e n und zu v e r b r e i t e n . Sie v e r s c h w a n d e n al so p l ö t z l i c h in den L i e d e r h e f t c h e n . So sind die einst so b e l i e b t e n L i e d e r h e u te a u c h in d e n u m f a n g reic h ste n F l u g b l a t t l l e d s a m m l u n g e n kaum noch a nz u tr e f f e n . A n d e r e r s e i t s l i e f e r n aber d ie p l ö t z l i c h e r s c h i e n e n e n A n g a b e n auf den n u n m e h r v on den B e h ö r d e n für h a r ml o s g e h a l t e n e n F l ug- b l a t t h e f t c h e n , so v o r a l l e m die der in d i e s e m Z u s a m m e n h a n g
bes o n d e r s w i c h t i g e n S o l b r i g s c h e n D r u c k e r e i in L e i p z i g , t rotz der d arin nicht mehr g e d r u c k t e n v e r b o t e n e n L i e d e r d o c h m a n chen indir e k t e n H i n w e i s bei ih rer I d e n t i f i z i e r u n g .
Im A n h a n g der k u r f ü r s t l i c h e n Z e n s u r m a ß n a h m e n v o m 17. M a i 1803 folgen s c h l i e ß l i c h die 82 V e r e a n f ä n g e der im O a h r e 1802 k o n f i s z i e r t e n und v o n nun an s t r e n g s t e n s v e r b o t e n e n L i e der:
S ie sind in der B e i l a g e als e k l a t a n t e B e i s p i e l e für u n e r w ü n s c h t e Lieder angef ü h r t , in i hr e r G e s a m t h e i t s o z u s a g e n als der E t a l o n jeder "schädl i c h e n " D i c h t u n g .
D i e s e n L i e d e r n w i d m e t e ein a n o n y m e r V e r f a s s e r in F . 3.
B e r t u c h s W e i m a r e r "Dournal des L u x u s und der H o d e n " b e r e i t s drei M onate , nach der k u r f ü r s t l i c h e n V e r o r d n u n g eine a u s f ü h r l ic he B e s p r e c h u n g u.d.T. "V o l ks l i e d e r " (Siehe K a p i t e l V I I . ) . D ie S t e l l u n g n a h m e des u n b e k a n n t e n A u t o r s w i e d e r s p i e g e l t die a l l g e m e i n e A n s c h a u u n g der im Z e i t a l t e r der d e u t s c h e n A u f k l ä rung g e s c h u l t e n I n t e l l i g e n z , die k e i n e r l e i ä s t h e t i s c h e W e r t e in p o e t i s c h e n W e r k e n zu a k z e p t i e r e n fähig war, w e n n d i e s e nicht d i r e k t e n e r z i e h e r i s c h e n F u n k t i o n e n d i e n t e n . D i e s e S t e l l u n g n a h m e w ar b e s o n d e r s i n t o le r a n t g e g e n ü b e r W e r k e n , d i e s o gar, ganz im G e g e n t e i l , d e r ' E n t f a l t u n g und V e r b r e i t u n g der a n t i z i p i e r t e n s p ä t a u f k l ä r e r i s c h e n N o r m e n v o n i n d i v i d u e l l e r S i t t l i c h k e i t und g e s e l l s c h a f t l i c h e r O r d n u n g e n t g e g e n z u w i r k e n schienen. S e h r d e u t l i c h kommt d i e s z u m A u s d r u c k , w e n n der A u t o r die v e r b o t e n e n L i e d e r in z w e i G r u p p e n , und z w a r in die
der "höchst u n s i t t l i c h e n und g e s c h m a c k l o s e n L i e d e r " und dei j e n i g e n d er "vom R h e i n h e r ü b e r g e k o m m e n e n Revolutionsseuche'' e i nordne t.
D i e s e ty p i s c h e E i n s t e l l u n g macht v e r s t ä n d l i c h , d a ß sich d er W e i m a r e r A n on ymus w e i t e s t g e h e n d mit d en s t r e n g e n Z e n s u r m a ß n a h m e n i d e n t i f i z i e r t e . D a d u r c h d ü r f t e ja d e r V e r b r e i t u n g d i e s e r L i e d e r d u r c h ''Liederhändler, B ü c h e r t r ö d l e r und B u c h b i n d e r in C h u r s a c h s e n und d e n a n g r ä n z e n d e n L ä n d e r n " , also a uch in W e i m a r d er B o d e n e n t z o g e n w o r d e n sein.
B e a c h t e n s w e r t s ind a u ß e r d e m d i e A n s i c h t e n d e s V e r f a s s e r s ü be r d ie L e s e r und d i e V e r b r e i t e r d i e s e r D i c h t u n g . S c h o n die Z e n s u r v e r o r d n u n g v o n 1 803 e n t h i e l t d e n G e d a n k e n , d a ß es bei
dem Verbot um "be sonders d em gemein e n Volk s c h ä dl i ch e Lieder"
(Tille, S. 133; h e r v orgehoben, L.T.) geht. G e na u so war auch der Z e i t g e n o s s e in W e i m a r v or allem w egen d e r "untersten V ol k s k l a s 3 e n " (Bertuch, S. 426.) als A b n e h m e r dies er Lied e r besorgt, er sah in ihnen die e i gent l ic h e n K o n s u m e n t e n der Flu g b l at tly rik. Ä h n l i c h e A n s i c h t e n w u rd e n auch in dem Z e i t sc h ri f ten b e r i c h t " F l u gblätter fürs Volk auf der Insel Föhr"
(Siehe Kao itel VII.) v e rtreten. Was K o n f i s k a t i o n e n und Z e n s u r m a ßn a hmen anbelangt, war der Buchh ä n d l e r J o h a nn Gott l o b Imman u el B r eitko pf gewiß t o leranter als v i el e se iner Z e i t g e nossen, "öfters tut auch die K o n f i s k a t i o n eines B u c h e s ” - schr i eb er - "die e n t g e g e n g e s e t z t e W ü r ku n g, und wird alsd a n n aus N eu g i e r d e erst gesucht, da es v i el l e i c h t sonst M a k u l a t u r g e w o r d en und unbekann t g e b l i e b e n sein würde; d avon mehr als ein B e is p iel v o r h a n d e n ist. M a n tut auch sich e r dem B u c h h a n d e l Unrecht, wenn man G ä r u n g e n unter dem V o l k e in einem L ande für eine W ü r k u n g eines B u c h e s h ä l t . " (Breitkopf, S. 9; h e r v o r g e hoben, L.T.) G e f a h r e n d urch d ie u n k o n t r o l l i e r t e V e r b r e i t u n g von f l ieg enden B l ä t t e r n unter dem V o l k hielt aber selbst B r ei t kopf für möglich, indem er se ine G e d a n k e n f o l g e n d e r maßen fortführte: "Es g eschieht g e w is s er durch f liegende . D o c h w a r ich s c h o n nach d i e s e n e r s t e n B e f u n d e n v o n der E i ge n a r t , v o r a llem v o n d en g r e l l e n p o e t i s c h e n E f f e k t e n d i e s e r u n g e k ü n s t e l t e n ,
