ROLE OF CIVIL SOCIETY IN ACHIEVING MDG 6
- SERVICES PROVIDED
- KNOWLEDGE OF DEVELOPMENT PRIORITIES
- POLICY ADVOCACY
- ROLE MODEL
An important aspect to note is that the involvement of civil society organizations in services aimed at preventing and combating tuberculosis is much lower. There are few civil society organizations involved in tuberculosis control activities, this area is not very interesting for civil society. An important role in ensuring sustainability is played by state institutions (local and central), which, according to civil society organizations, should take on a greater role, especially in the procurement/accreditation of prevention, support, care and treatment. services.
Although the sustainability of programs, social projects to combat HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis, which is determined by the mechanism of taking over services by government organizations, is a problem for the CSO, it should be mentioned that most of the civil society organizations participating on the research collaborates with state institutions/agencies, the latter being the main partners in implementing corresponding policies and strategies. Involvement of other international donors in support of programs to combat HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis; The services developed and delivered by civil society organizations to combat HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis thus cover three priority areas: information and prevention services, care and support services, and advocacy.
Activities to combat and prevent HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis. Case Study of the Health Policies and Analysis Center
Project “Strengthening of drug resistant tuberculosis management in the Republic of Moldova”
The outcomes of the program, specifically TB drug resistance, and consequently the goal will be achieved by pursuing one single goal, which is to ensure universal access to TB TB diagnostics and treatment. Training of teams providing services to TB and primary health care (PHC) teams (GPs, nurses) on management aspects, clinical and laboratory MDR-TB management, as well as ensuring adherence to treatment and psychosocial support to DR-TB patients in community and family;. Enhance existing TB SIME (TB Monitoring and Evaluation System), an electronic surveillance system to meet the needs of DR-TB consolidated management program.
Support the working group to review the notification and reporting system as well as the national database for DR-TB management. Ensure that all patients undergoing DR-TB treatment receive stimulants (food and hygiene packs) twice a month, to ensure compliance and compliance with the prescribed treatment regimen for the entire duration of the course; Reimbursement of travel expenses to DOT support staff, as it is expected that 20% of outpatient DR-TB patients will receive medication at home (while others will visit institutions providing TB services or PHC facilities) from DOT support staff;
Public Association ”League of people living with HIV in the Republic of Moldova”
An important role is played by organizations that provide direct services to people living with HIV/AIDS. Thus, the League of Public Associations of people living with HIV (Box 2), which consists of 58 individual members and 11 organizations as legal members, develops and implements programs in partnership with its members, contributing to the protection of rights and interests of people living with HIV in Moldova and their families and to strengthen the efforts of the government, the private sector and international and non-governmental organizations aimed at addressing HIV/AIDS issues. The League provides services to at least 5,000 people infected or affected by HIV/AIDS – adults and children – who receive help and support from the League's member organizations and projects carried out by the League's Secretariat.
Proiect1: "Strengthening the potential of the 'league of people living with HIV (PLH) in the Republic of Moldova". 2009, the League was awarded the "Red Ribbon Award Moldova" as the best organization providing assistance and support to people living with HIV/AIDS. Union for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Harm Reduction in Moldova
CONTRIBUTION OF CSOS TO CHANGE
Especially in rural areas, where the LPA potential needs to be translated into value, which will contribute significantly to supporting people living with HIV in rural areas. With the implementation of case management, it becomes important to divide the division of responsibilities between doctors and social workers. The doctor will thus have to provide information about the medical aspect of the infection, while the social worker, in addition to making social inquiries, has a responsibility to provide appropriate advice and support to those infected.
ROLE OF PRIVATE SECTOR IN ATTAINING MDG 6
EXTENT OF KNOWLEDGE ON MDG 6
Regarding the awareness of development priorities on the part of private sector organizations, it should be noted that they do not monitor this agenda so closely. At the same time, even a minimal level of knowledge about international development priorities is welcome. Interest in learning more about MDG 6 and its objectives is an important aspect in starting a process of involving private sector organizations in achieving the objectives set by our country to be achieved by 2015.
CONTRIBUTING TO MDG THROUGH THE BASIC ACTIVITY
HIV/AIDS Control
Control of tuberculosis
- CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSABILITY
- PHYLANTROPY AND COMMUNITY INVESTMENTS
- POLICY DIALOGUE
- CONTRIBUTION TO CHANGES
An active involvement of the private sector in combating and preventing HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis by organizing information activities in the workplace will help to reduce the incidence of both HIV infection and tuberculosis among employees and their families. Solidarity, care and support are essential elements that should guide every employee in responding to HIV/AIDS. In very few cases, their involvement is expressed through the organization of social programs and sponsorship activities, community projects to combat and prevent HIV/AIDS and/or tuberculosis.
However, it should be mentioned that each of the private companies participating in the study considers it of great importance to have consultative meetings with organizations/international donors in the near future to combat and prevent HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis. Involvement covers issues related to core activities and less to issues related to the prevention and control of HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis. On the one hand, private sector organizations participating in the survey believe that Moldova has made progress in the fight against HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis because: the conditions for stabilizing the situation have been created, programs that contribute to objectives set with the support of international organizations/donors.
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The health policy should include and encourage collaboration between all relevant institutions, including academic health institutions, hospitals, local and private clinics, occupational health services, health services, health centers and home care associations, religious organizations, national and international NGOs. organizations. The analysis of the situation and the responses of the research participants enable the creation of recommendations for the implementation of concrete measures that lead to accelerated progress towards the desired goals.
