Technical drawing in Photonics Lesson 14

A technical drawing needs at least 3 linetypes:

• thin and continuous,

• thick and continuous,

• thin and dash-dotted (for symmetry lines).

In AutoCAD three ”layers” are needed for this.

Every layer can have one and only one linewidth, type and color.

Of course layers can have many more utilizations: e.g. on the same drawing every engineer can have his/her own – password protected – layers to do his/her task without interfering with the others.
