Introduction

This learning unit discusses the inflammatory disorders of the central nervous system according to the following categories. Due to

limitations of space, not all conditions are mentioned here, please see the relevant chapters of neurological textbooks for further details.

The aim of this learning unit is to give an overview of the symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of the clinically most significant inflammatory disorders of the central nervous system.

The structure of the chapter

III./5.1 Meningitis

III./5.2 Encephalitis (viral, limbic, paraneoplastic) III./5.3 Multiple sclerosis, ADEM, Devic’s disease III./5.4 Lyme disease (neuroborreliosis)

Each section is organized in the following manner:

Treatment

It is recommended that you read the whole chapter first, then to study each part in more detail, together with the relevant chapters of the recommended textbook or other textbooks of neurology. After finishing this learning aid, solve the test questions.

The test is a multiple choice type test, one answer is correct to each question.The result is acceptable if you solve at least 15 out of the 18 questions correctly.
