There are significant relationships between local employment and overall satisfaction with the settlement, or with its recommendation as a place to stay or holiday. We can draw the following conclusions and suggestions: local employment plays an important role in the complex assessment of the quality of life and sustainability of the area, and should therefore be given great emphasis.

SEVNICA

Destination description

Literature review

Consequently, in recent years, tourism professionals have become more aware of the fact that in tourism, communication and discourse are crucial, significant concepts for positioning people and destinations (Potočnik Topler, 2017). When tourism and media discourse are successfully combined, destinations can benefit greatly if media attention is managed in a professional manner, bearing in mind the very clear objectives of the destination's tourism development. Tourism stakeholders and local residents of Sevnica were chosen for the interviews, because one of the objectives of the study was to gain a deeper understanding of tourism development in Sevnica.

The main objectives of the research were to establish the role of the first media attention Sevnica had received in 2016 and to identify attitudes of the local stakeholders towards tourism and future tourism development.

Results

Over time, the community tried to support the media and saw the coverage of Sevnica by all the most important world media (Reuters, ABC, BBC, CNN, NBC, Washington Post, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, etc.) about Sevnica. the possibility to accelerate their tourism, but some members of the community have started to warn the media about the negative effects of Sevnica's exposure. The answers show that the respondents are well acquainted with the tourist resources, attractions, heritage and events that Sevnica has to offer. It is worth noting that some interviewees emphasized sustainable tourism practices and expressed their firm belief that the best interests of the environment and local residents must be taken into account at every step of future tourism development.

The good news for the people of Sevnica is that many locals believe in the success of tourism and that tourism can contribute to the overall development of the city, especially if the city and its surroundings succeed in attracting tourists from the surrounding spas (Rimske). Toplice, Laško, Terme Čatež, Šmarješke Toplice).

HOW LOCALS BECOME HOSTS?

In order to achieve sustainability, it is necessary to find out why and how local communities become more than willing to transfer their heritage knowledge to visitors, welcome them as guests and create conditions in which tourists are happy to come to see the attractions of their hosts. . If they are aware of the reason, they will be more than willing to offer their hospitality while imparting their heritage knowledge to the visitors. Their activities cover the following key points: raising local awareness by revealing related cultural attributes; their active participation in economic value chains is necessary to establish the conditions for sustainable tourism, proper information and proper management.

This can have benefits for the person's development, his/her identity awareness and in sharing their heritage through network building.

Theoretical background

By the time of the research, they had already acquired sufficient theoretical knowledge to be able to analyze a tourist event in their local community. During the course of the research, they had an excellent cooperation in helping each other by providing relevant information about each recurring festival. By gaining their agreement and using their local knowledge, local communities should be involved in implementing the cultural goals, strategies, policies and protocols of the event.

For the identification, conservation, management, presentation and interpretation of the cultural practices, the organizers - presumably also experts to some extent - must cooperate with them for the realization of contemporary cultural expressions, in the tourism context.

The Sziget Festival

Mysore Dasara

The highlight attraction is the idol of the Goddess: golden mantapa (ca.750 kg of gold) on top of an elaborately decorated elephant. The management of the cultural event includes accessibility ensured by road, by air and by Mysore Dasara Special Luxury Train which is a luxury travel and enjoyment of a prepackaged tour program for Mysore Dasara celebrations. The next management issue is who is in charge of the event: here a Dasara Special Officer appointed by the government works with a Deputy Commissioner of Police (responsible for the event's planning and execution) with the Palace Council responsible for the safety and security of the palace (which is not only a monument but a functioning building), staff appointment, the preservation of traditions, related rules, training and the assurance of qualified guides, information provision, tourist movements.

They ensure safety and security at public areas, crowds must be controlled, parking management ensured, garbage disposal (plastic is prohibited) organized.

The International Kite Festival

Many birds are injured or killed as thousands go to the terraces to fly kites, so the rules should be made stricter and their violation severely penalized.

Cheung Chau Bun Festival

There must be a significant portion of the event's income specifically derived from tourism allocated to the protection, preservation and presentation of the local cultural heritage. Local people should be encouraged to take a direct interest in the implementation of the event by taking care and preserving their heritage, as well as by having more work, consequently the arrival, visit of a large number of tourists will put them in a less disturbed. They experience that there is a significant part of the event's income that is allocated specifically from tourism to the protection, preservation and presentation of the local cultural heritage.

A sustainability report can be published by a company or organization that shows the economic, environmental and social impacts of an event's activities.

Guidelines for heritage managers to organise a heritage related event

Making a report is the easiest way to communicate the actions and impacts (positive or negative) that have been made to create a sustainable environment. The sustainability report has three components: environmental reporting, which shows the impacts of processes, products and services on air, water, land, biodiversity and human health. The second is social reporting, which includes workplace health and safety, employee retention, labor rights, human rights, wages and working conditions, and outsourcing activities.

Conclusion, implications

Many studies show that quality of life and well-being are actually very closely related. The other side is the quality of life of the local residents, and that is another story. And it is a bit difficult to measure the cultural relationship between tourism and quality of life.

For example, most city planners understand quality of life and well-being correctly.
