25 Years of Octogon Mathematical Magazine Happy Birthday!

D.M. B˘atineu-Giurgiu and Neculai Stanciu 4

Dedicated to the 25 years of Octogon Mathematical Magazine ABSTRACT.This short paper is a tribute to the journal Octogon Mathematical Magazine who is celebrating its twentyfive year of publication.

25 is a number that fascinated many; we are really big fans of this beautiful number and also of this famous Math Journal. Octogon Mathematical Magazine presents:

• carefully selected original research articles from all areas of pure and applied mathematics, and short notes with interesting results as well as relevant book reviews. Only articles written in the English language and in a lucid, expository style are considered for publication;

• results in mathematics, in a style that is understandable and always interesting;

• articles use formal and informal approaches to express sophisticated concepts of mathematical discovery;

• articles which are accessible to a very wide community of mathematicians;

• interesting and understandable results in all areas of mathematics;

• research expositions that connect different mathematical subjects.

Connections that are useful in both ways are of particular importance;

• proposed problems.

• open questions and conjectures;

The most important is that all which are presented in this math journal are new and interesting.

So, here we are now back to the past, ready for the present and the future.

Mih´aly Bencze, born on 20 November 1954 in S˘acele-N´egyfalu, Bra¸sov, is teacher of mathematics and principal manager at Ady Endre high school in Bucharest, Romania.

He received Ph. D. in mathematics in 2010.

He is Editor in Chief of math journal Gamma (1978 - 1989) which becomes in 1993 Octogon Mathematical Magazine; also he is editor in chief and member of many other scientific journals all over the world.

From 2013 he is member of the American Romanian Academy of Arts and Sciences.

He is founder of the J´ozsef Wildt International Mathematical Competition (1990 - ), the Transsylvanian Hungarian Mathematical Competition (1990 - ), the John von Neumann Mathematical Competition, the J´ozsef Benk˝o Mathematical Competition and the International Hungarian Mathematical Competitions (1992 - ).

He has published thousands of problems, notes and articles in many scientific journal all over the world and also he has published many books for

Mathematical Contests.

The number of all published articles/notes in these 25 years in Octogon Mathematical Magazine are 1500; the number of all published problems in these 25 years are 27428; the number of all published open questions in these 25 years are 5190.
