Opportunities provided by visual programming in high school informatics courses

Abstract. ICT tools are now widespread, and their use requires knowledge of user interfaces and the underlying logic of operation. However in public education the subject of informatics focuses on using office software. On maturity exam with a raised level the console based programming skills are required. However this programming method is not spectacular and the achievements disappear. In our presentation we highlight how the user experience provided by visual programming helps make pupils enjoy programming and develop their programming skills.
