2018-19 CEU/HESP Research Excellence Fellowship

A program for academics based at higher education and/or academic research institutions in the Global South who wish to spend one or two terms at CEU conducting original research that will

lead to a groundbreaking publication in an international peer-reviewed journal

 Research period of three or six months (one or two consecutive terms at CEU)

 Publication oriented research

 Full access to the CEU library

 Consultations with faculty in CEU departments, schools, and centers

 Full scholarship covering travel costs to/from Budapest, visa and insurance costs, accommodations and a stipend of 5,000 USD (1 term) or 10,000 USD (2 terms) funded by the Higher Education Support Program (HESP) of the Open Society Foundations

Applications for Winter and Spring terms of the academic year 2018-19 to be submitted by 10 May 2018

The following subjects and themes will be considered a priority:

 Inequalities and social justice,

 Democratic governance,

 Inclusive and evidence-based policy-making,

 Migration and refugees,

 Climate change mitigation and adaptation,

 Higher education in open society (with emphasis on the innovative projects which address the following sub-themes in combination: higher education policy and governance, academic freedom, teaching and learning, student engagement, and educational technologies).
