e Orientation Days are organized for international students at ELTE at the beginning of each semester to introduce students to the university, staﬀ, and organizations.

ESN ELTE is here so that students won’t feel all alone: besides organizing social activities, the most direct help ESN ELTE provides is through the mentor system. ESN ELTE mentors are enthusiastic, open-minded and helpful Hungarian ELTE students. ey help incoming international students with everyday problems and they guide them through their international experience.

English and Hungarian language courseswww.elte.hu/en/language_courses Hungarian language and culture courses are oﬀered from beginner to proﬁ- ciency levels during the academic year. If students want to brush up their English before studies or to improve their language skills while studying at ELTE, they can sign up for the English language course at the Center for Advanced Language Learning.

Summer and winter programs at ELTE are good occasions to meet students and teachers on cam- pus and get familiar with the city and Hungarian culture.

REGULARLY ORGANIZED PROGRAMS

Hungarian Summer University in the Carpathian Basin Time: First week of July

2 ECTS credits

This one-week event at ELTE allows Hungarian students living in the Carpathian Basin outside Hungary to further educate themselves in four sessions (humanities, informatics, law, and science). A satellite event of the summer university is the Forum for Hungarian Institutionsof the Hungarian diaspora in the Carpathian Basin, which is an executive meeting of the leaders of ELTE and partner in- stitutions in the Carpathian Basin. The forum facilitates the development of bilateral research and educational relations in higher education and the increase of the number of double degrees in the Higher Education Region in the Carpathian Basin.

Summer University of Hungarian Language and Culture Time: End July-August

5 ECTS credits

is four-week event brings together interested individuals from diverse geographical, cultural, and academic back- grounds for an intensive course on Hungarian language and culture and oﬀers various cultural activities in Budapest.

Heidelberg University – ELTE Joint Summer University Time: End August-beginning September

3 ECTS credits

is two-week program is oﬀered to students from Heidel- berg University and ELTE, each year discussing a main theme from multidisciplinary perspectives.
