ES SZERKESZTÓ BIZOTTSÁGÁHOZ

Kedves Elvtársak! Folyóiratuk megindulásának ötvenéves jubileuma alkalmá—

ból fogadják jókívánságaimat. A Statisztikai Szemle, fennállásának fél évszázada alatt sokat tett a kor gazdasági és társadalmi valóságának sokoldalú megismeré-

sében, a fejlődés tendenciáinak és mozgatóerőinek feltárásában. A folyóirat

munkája a hazai statisztikai tevékenység egyre elmélyültebb, tudományos igényű fejlődéséről tanúskodik.

Az új gazdaságirányitási rendszerben fokozódott a pontos és gyors informá—

ciók jelentősége, és bizonyos mértékig átalakult az információs rendszer tartalma is. Különösképpen fontossá váltak a piaci folyamatok nyomon követésére, a társa- dalompolitikaí és gazdaságpolitikai összefüggések feltárására irányuló informá- ciók. Ehhez részben újfajta vizsgálati módszerekre és megfigyelésekre, részben a meglevők korszerűsítésére, részletesebbé vagy gyakoribbá tételére volt szükség.

A statisztika a megnövekedett igényeknek széles körben eleget tett, és ez a folyó- irat munkájában is tükröződött. Elég itt utalni - a teljesség igénye nélkül — az új népgazdasági mérlegrendszer kidolgozására, a társadalmi rétegek életkörülmé- nyeit bemutató elemzésekre, az árstatisztika újjászervezésére, a termelés és a for—

galom vizsgálata terén elért eredményekre, illetve az ezeket ismertető publiká—

ciókra. A magyar statisztika ezeken és számos más területen is túllépett a jelen- ségek egyszerű mérésén vagy regisztrálásán. Az eredmények, tendenciák értékelé- sével, előrejelzésével hatékonyan hozzájárult fontos gazdaságpolitikai intézkedé- sek kidolgozásához, a társadalmi folyamatok befolyásolósához.

A statisztikai információval szemben támasztott igények — nemcsak az állam—

vezetés, hanem a tudományok és a nagyközönség részéről is — állandóan növek- szenek. Ezért a Statisztikai Szemlének eddigi törekvéseit folytatva tovább kell mun—

kálkodnia a módszerek fejlesztésén, az új problémák feltárásán, a gazdasági és társadalmi fejlődés tendenciáinak és mozgatóerőinek elemzésén. Ehhez kívánok a folyóirat Szerkesztő Bizottságának, Szerkesztőségének az ötvenedik évforduló al- kalmából töretlen munkakedvet és további sikereket.

Dear Comrades! Accept my best wishes on the occasion of Both anniversary of the start of your periodical. ln the half-century of its existence the Statistical Review has done much in the interest of a comprehensive knowledge of the economic and social reality of our age and of the exploration of tendencies and driving forces of development. The work of this periodical shows an ever engrossed development and high scientific level of the Hungarian statistical activity.

The importance of correct and prompt information has increased in the new system of economic management and also the content of the information system has changed to a certain degree. Information used for following market processes and for exploration of socio-political and economic relations has become particularly important. These reauired partly new methods of investigation and observation. and partly the modernization, making more detailed or more freauent of the existing ones. Statistics has met the increased demands in wide limits and it has been reflected in the Statístical Review. It is sufficient to refer here — without a claim for completeness — to the elaboration of the new balance system of the national economy, analyses which demonstrate the living circumstances of social strata, reconstruction of price statistics, results achieved in the investigation of production and trade, or to publications which discussed them. Hungarian statistics has gone beyond the simple measuring or registration of Évents in these fields and in many others too. With evaluation and forecast of results and tendencies it has efficiently contri- buted to the elaboration of important policy measures and to the control of social processes.
