D a s Entzündungs-Stadium verläuft äufserst r a s c h ; es z e i g t s i c h w e d e r G e s c h w u l s t , n o c h umschriebene Härte, w i e h e i d e r V a c c i n e , u n d d i e S p a n n u n g i m U m -k r e i s e i s t , w e n n s i e j a s i c h e i n s t e l l t , unregelmäfsig und oberflächlich. D i e K r u s t e n , w e l c h e , v o m siebenten oder a c h t e n T a g e a n , vollständig sich g e b i l d e t h a b e n , fallen fast u m d i e nämliche Z e i t u n d m a n c h m a l n o c h früher ah, w i e d i e d e r V a c c i n e . Jedes dieser Bläschen w a r v o n e i n e m r o t h e n H i n g e u m g e b e n , desseu D u r c h m e s s e r d o p p e l t so grofs w a r , a l s d e r des Bläschens selbst. A m 1 2 t e n O c t o b e r h a t t e n d i e w e l k g e w o r d e n e n Bläschen i h r e D u r c h s i c h t i g k e i t v e r l o r e n , u n d a n s t a t t eini-ger, w e l c h e d u r c h das R e i b e n d e r Kleidungsstücke «er-stört w a r e n , zeigte s i c h e i n e k l e i n e bräunliche K r u s t e . Während d e r f o l g e n d e n T a g e fielen diese K r u s t e n ab. A m 1 7 t c n w a r d e r K r a n k e völlig h e r g e s t e l l t .
E s h e r r s c h t e n damals d i e P o c k e n , u n d m e h r e d e r i m K r a n k e n h a u s e b e f i n d l i c h e n K r a n k e n w u r d e n d a v o n befall e n . D a unser Bäcker n i c h t v a c c i n i r t w a r , o d e r w e n i g -stens w e d e r B l a t t e r - n o c h V a c c i n o - N a r b e n h a l l e , so liefe i c h i h m a m löten O c t o b e r d i e K u h p o c k e n e i n i m p f e n , u n d a n d e r Innenfläche des A r m e s W u r d e n d r e i t i e f e E i n s t i c h e gemacht.

Jici 288 In-dividuen blieb die Revaccination erfolglos; bei den TJebrigen aber hat er folgende vier verschiedene Formen von modificirter Vaccine beobachtet: . : ,
1. Puraleute modificirlc Vaccine. Die Pusteln sind weit kleiner und der Verlaul' ist weit rascher.
2. Lymphatische modificirte Vaccine. 'Die Pusteln er-scheinen am zweiten oder am dritten Tage; sie füllen sich mit kla-rer Lymphe, welche nicht purulcnt wird; die Flüssigkeit verschwin-det am sechsten oder- siebenten Tage.
3. TubcreQlSi-pastul8.se modificirte Vaccine,: Am zweiten oder dritten Tage erscheinen linsenförmige Knoten, an deren Spitze eine kleine Pustel sich bildet,
Durch Uebertragung dieser drei Formen kann bei Nicht-Vac-cinirten wahre Vaccine entstehen.
4. Tubcrculösc modificirte Vaccine. Die Tuberkeln erscheinen binnen 24 Stunden; am zweiten, dritten oder dien Tage stellt sich ein rother Ring ein. In sechs bis sieben Tagen verschwin-den sie.
